Your North Node in the Third House

Karma: Reliance on institutions
Soul mission: Engaging local community

North Node in the third house is your life purpose and soul mission, according to karmic astrology. The third house symbolizes the AREAS of LIFE and LIFE ISSUES to explore throughout your life.

Karmic astrology is a spiritual approach to astrology. I've created THREE STEPS to living your life purpose, outlined below.

If you want to go deeper, book a private karmic astrology session with me. I work with people who sincerely want to live a life with purpose, awakening their heart and working with their soul instead of struggling against it.

Step one: Appreciate your ninth house savvy

You have many past life experiences around religion, big business, academic institutions and personal truth.

The first step in claiming your North Node in the third house is to embody the highest expression of the ninth house (opposite to the third). The ninth house represents your karmic past. So definitely appreciate — but! Don't make ninth house issues the centre of your life.

Celebrate that you were born with a deep understanding of life and how it works. Enjoy your church community if you have one. Enjoy how easy it is for you to enjoy the intellectual side of life and achievement of advanced degrees. Travel to expand your philosophies. Publish your ideas or immerse yourself in big business. If you have them, enjoy your grandchildren.

Study the ninth house to claim your gifts and understand its highest potential. Live these ideals, and hold them ever so lightly.

To live a life with purpose: this is your first step.

Step two: Own your ninth house karma

Have you experienced another’s judgment? Ever encountered a know-it-all?

With a North Node in the third house, your karma is played out in the arena of relationships. Your karma stems from lifetimes of believing that your Truth is the only truth. So ethical, religious or philosophical challenges are common. These issues may be played out in big business, the law, the church or educational institutions, or even while you’re traveling.

In past lifetimes, you might have sacrificed your relationships to focus on developing wisdom. You may feel this today as a restlessness or an inexplicable need to be completely free, which (of course) impacts your happiness in relationships.

Notice the challenging people you attract, especially those that evoke strong emotions in you (especially around being judged, or ethical issues). These are clues that you may have created this person, to show you who you’ve been in a past life.

The shadow side of the 9th house has to do with focusing on abstract philosophy, rather than focusing on connection in relationships.

Step three: Step into your third house soul mission

Gather information. Listen. See others point of view. Focus on what's in front of you, instead of abstract philosophies.

North Node in the third house life issues involve relationships with others: your neighbours, the butcher down the street, your community. They include learning how to connect with people, communicating openly and clearly and listening to another’s point of view.

No matter how foreign this sounds to you, these are the life issues to explore over the course of your lifetime. Questions around the way you think, speak and write and your capacity for adapting to your immediate environment are included here, as well as tuning in to the perceptions around you. Your siblings or close relative relationships also figure prominently.

Have you been asked to facilitate activities in your community? Learn and communicate something new for you? Don’t shy away from this, it’s a North Node in the third house opportunity. And this may be how your soulmate (or perfect employer) notices you: they will be drawn to your adaptability, and your ability to truly listen.

With a North Node in the third house, make it a priority to become a master at communication. I say this, because your tendency may be to bulldoze – or disconnect when you feel trapped. A third house soul mission also supports a busy, urban social life. So, attend that party! Get online! Know that a sophisticated, intellectual connection will be part of your relationships. Stay flexible and curious and create connections that are fun and stimulating.

Embody the essence of your soul mission sign as you tend to the people and information right in front of you: this is the key.
