An addictive spin on awakening, soulmates and past lives

Expressing what's inside, outside (time for a makover?)

“As if you were on fire from within. The moon lives in the lining of your skin.”
– Pablo Neruda

I'm big into some “stuff” purging right now. I've begun thinking about expressing what's inside my heart, outside in the world.

So I did something that I've been wanting to do for years.

That is, hire someone help me pull together my look, in a way that reflects me authentically. Also, so that I make better decisions, waste less money on clothes I never wear and feel good in the clothes I do have in my closet!

Now going shopping may not be a stretch for some, but it is for me. I intensely dislike shopping! I've also often discounted “looking good” in favour of “being real”. To be radically honest: down deep, I'm rather suspicious of people who spent too much time on their external selves.

I've also been shy about how I look physically, often deferring to others beauty, and remaining (safely) in the background.

Over the years, I've worked intensely with a number of people on my internal self. This time, I began to warm to the idea of working with someone on the expression of my inner self... in the world.

Are you ready to step out with your Dream?

“Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.”
– Kahlil Gibran

A number of years ago, a young woman booked a karmic astrology session with me. We met at my beautiful club Verity in Toronto, and I remember the meeting and that she was in transition.

Years later, she popped up over LinkedIn, and I learned that her new business, which was image consulting. Hmmm, I thought. I cut out a picture, and put it in my dream book. Some day.

I began to get busier a few months ago, and I knew I was ready. I wrote her to say that I wanted to work with her, and I'd be in touch in the spring.

She replied, saying that the astrology session she had with me about her soul mission influenced the choice of her business, and even it's name. How cool is that! Two weeks ago, we began the journey.

Steps to mining one's personal style

“Outer beauty attracts, but inner beauty captivates.”
– Kate Angell

As a first step, Lori came to my home and I sat up on a cool Director's chair in my living room under natural light. For two hours, she draped me with colours, and I noticed how certain colours lifted me up, or pulled me down. Before she left, she did my makeup and had some good tips for me.

Last week, she came over again and we focused on my personal style and the types of clothing that would work for my body, my preferences and how I spend a typical month. Then we spent hours going through my wardrobe, salvaging what we could, and finding new combinations.

Now this was extremely stressful for me (remember, I'm a gal who hates shopping!). But she made it fun. All the while, she kept a list of what I needed, and even took pictures of some of my clothes and combinations she suggested. Yesterday, she emailed me a Powerpoint presentation, with the photos of my clothes and suggestions for additional pieces, and looks to consider.

As I write this first draft, I have a massive pile of clothing and shoes I'll be donating this afternoon, and when I'm done today, I'll be calling her: because we're going to go shopping. And it's going to be fun, dammit! :-)

The never ending journey of expansion

“A woman whose smile is open and whose expression is glad has a kind of beauty no matter what she wears.”
– Anne Roiphe

As you expand in your own life, awakening full potential to more people, you will become more vulnerable. Whether the object of your desire, is a new position, a new business, a new home — or a new Love. Your task is to stay with the tension and allow it to give way, revealing more of who you are.

I chose to share this now because I want more people who are beautiful inside, to also be beautiful outside. To do more, to touch more people, to manifest your dreams whatever they are.

Perhaps its time to give Lori Lynne Speed at Phoenix Image Consulting a call.
